The Light Has Come
Reading: John 8:12; John 3:16-21 - When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”.......For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

Devotional: Jesus declared, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." This wasn't a casual statement—it was an explosive claim to divinity made during the Feast of Tabernacles when giant lampstands illuminated Jerusalem, symbolizing God's presence with His people.

Perhaps darkness has become normal for you. You've learned to navigate it, developed a feel for it, even found comfort in its familiarity. But God's verdict is clear: light has come into the world. The darkness you've grown accustomed to—hidden conversations, buried offenses, masked pain—isn't how you were meant to live.

Today, acknowledge one area where darkness feels normal. Bring it into the light by confessing it to God or a trusted friend. Remember, Jesus didn't come to condemn but to save. His light exposes not to shame you, but to free you.
