One Gate, One Way
Reading: John 10:7-10 - Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
John 14:6 - Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Devotional: Jesus' claim to be "the gate" isn't popular in our inclusive culture, but it's profoundly comforting. A gate provides both access and protection. Multiple gates would mean multiple threats, but one gate means one Shepherd standing watch over your soul. This exclusivity isn't about God being narrow-minded; it's about Him being trustworthy. You don't need to wonder which path leads to life—Jesus is that path. The thief comes to steal and destroy, but Jesus came that you might have abundant life. What false gates are you tempted to enter through—success, relationships, achievement? Today, recommit to entering through the one Gate who laid down His life for you. Security isn't found in having many options but in having the right one.
