Daily Devotional 6-3-26

Formational, Not Just Informational

Reading: Psalm 119:9-16 - How can a young person stay on the path of purity?
    By living according to your word.
I seek you with all my heart;
    do not let me stray from your commands.
I have hidden your word in my heart
    that I might not sin against you.
Praise be to you, Lord;
    teach me your decrees.
With my lips I recount
    all the laws that come from your mouth.
I rejoice in following your statutes
    as one rejoices in great riches.
I meditate on your precepts
    and consider your ways.
I delight in your decrees;
    I will not neglect your word.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 - All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Devotional: Are you reading Scripture to check a box or to meet with God? The Pharisees diligently studied Scripture yet missed Jesus standing right in front of them. They gathered information but experienced no transformation. God's Word isn't meant to be consumed like content on a streaming service—it's meant to shape you. Consider slowing down this week. Instead of rushing through chapters, sit with one verse. Let it simmer. Ask God to speak. The goal isn't finishing your reading plan; it's encountering the Living Word. Quality over quantity. One sentence that transforms you is worth more than ten chapters that leave you unchanged. Today, pick one verse and meditate on it throughout your day. Write it down. Pray through it. Let God's Word dwell richly within you.
