Acts 1-11-26
This message takes us on a fascinating journey through Acts chapter 15, using the brilliant analogy of video game 'cheat codes' to help us understand one of Christianity's most profound transitions. Just as Nintendo's developers built warp zones into Super Mario Bros—allowing players to skip levels while still playing the game as intended—God designed a new covenant that doesn't require us to follow every Old Testament law to reach salvation. The early church faced a critical moment when certain teachers insisted that new believers must be circumcised according to Mosaic law to be saved. But the apostles taught something revolutionary: Christ alone is our mediator, and we have direct access to God through Him. This isn't about having a license to sin or dismissing Scripture; rather, it's about recognizing that the Old Testament law was designed to lead us to Christ, and now that He has come, we're no longer under its supervision. The message challenges us to examine whether we've been devoted to styles, traditions, and extra-biblical rules, or to what the apostles actually taught—a Christ-centered faith that is exceedingly practical for our lives. When we let go of the red tape and focus on the core gospel, we discover freedom, transformation, and a faith that can genuinely shape both our individual lives and our community.
